GICLÉE PRINTING BUREAU
Charles Mackey is offering a service to artists who wish to produce high quality limited edition prints from their original artwork, especially for exhibitions. I operate a wide-format printing bureau, which enables Fine Art reproduction of artwork up to 24" wide by 90" long. All prints are produced in-house with superb digitally enhanced quality surpassing conventional printing. Using the very latest inkjet technology, prints are protected with up to 200 years light fastness against fading, with vibrant colours and faithful reproduction. Scanning services are available from 35mm, Medium format and 4x5 transparencies and negatives. We can, of course, work directly with digital files if already available. Every print is individually color balanced to give the very best results and we offer a range of fine quality papers, including Epson Enhanced Matte, Somerset Fine Art, and Canvas media to ensure that the finished Giclée Print matches as close as possible to the original artwork.
Giclée printing has many advantages over other printmaking methods. For example, each piece is individually produced allowing you to order one reproduction at a time if desired, so you are not obligated to finish an edition. You can order prints as needed without large up-front costs and storage problems associated with offset lithography. This allows you to test market a new idea or image. Giclée printing affords you more control of your career by giving you the ability to start self-publishing fine art reproductions in modest quantities. Artists can build an inventory slowly over time in response to the market. Giclée reproductions are the perfect medium for established and emerging artists, allowing you much better control of your cash flow. You can order just one reproduction to matte and frame as a display piece. and then create more as orders come in. The technology provides incredible detail and brilliant color. The resolution (DPI or dots per inch) is actually higher than traditional lithography which results in crisp contrast with rich, intense color. With the proper surface treatment, you can even paint on top of the image (retouch the image) to produce another individual "mixed media" piece. Digital artists and photographers find giclée ideal for printing their originals.
