The left picture shows the two pieces of the magnetic attachment next to each other; they can be used to clamp the badge onto a shirt, jacket or bag.  I tested the magnet through two layers of leather (no insulation) and it held.   I also tested it on the sleeve of an insulated leather jacket (quite thick); I shook the sleeve in an attempt to dislodge the badge and was unable to do so; the magnet is quite strong.  When the two pieces are stuck together as shown in the right hand picture, the badge can be hung on the side of a refrigerator, for example.
