Matsunosuke Sakurai, or "Matsu" as he was known to my family, was a valued and highly respected employee.  I have been told by my father, Malcolm Veerkamp, (youngest son of Louis) that it was his understanding that Matsu played an instrumental part in the design and construction of the "fruit house" - the shed in which the harvest was sorted, graded and packed for shipping.

I was told by my father that Matsu lived out the remainder of his life primarily in the service of Henry, but that a time arrived when Henry essentially turned over to Matsu the management of Henry's agricultural enterprises.
