GUILD WORKSHOPS 2007 - 2008

October 24 - 25, 2007

"Weaving that Sings" with Nadine Sanders, the Singing Weaver.

Designed for beginning through advanced weavers, this class is great for spinners to showcase their yarns. A 4-H loom in good working order and the ability to warp the loom and weave plain weave is necesaary. (Beginners will have advanced guild help available).

The Theo Moorman technique allows designs to be "painted" on the surface with inlay yarns. Learn to apply this technique for wall hangings as well as clothing possibilities and other imaginative uses. Two different threadings achieve cloth to put on, lay down, or hang up.

For newer weavers, the workshop will also include winding warps with a warping paddle and learning foundation weaving techniques. Special attention is given to a great variety of materials appropriate for the technique. Designing for this weave structure will be covered as samples are woven for future projects. Student warps will be prepared by Nadine in several different colors and materials so you can see the endless variations.

Workshop location is the Northminster Presbyterian Church and will run from 9 to 4 on each day.

Registration is now open. Workshop cost is $50 and material fee is $20.

December 5 & 6 2007
