The Sacramento Weavers' and Spinners' Guild encourages growth in the art of weaving, spinning and dyeing, by means of interchange of ideas, research and contact with experts in the field. The Guild presents members with the opportunity to meet and share through workshops and lectures.

Guild Meetings are held at the Shepard Garden and Art Center, 3330 McKinley Blvd, Sacramento, CA, 10:00 a.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month, September through May, except December. The meetings begin with Guild business, then proceed to an educational program. Bring your lunch; coffee and cookies are provided. After lunch, we return to the presentation by the featured speaker, which may include a hands-on portion.

The next meeting is January 22, 2008 and will feature "Characteristics of Cashmere Fiber" presented by Talibah and Ajamu Al-Rafiq. The afternoon program will be on "The Business or Cashmere"

The Guild Newsletter is published monthly, September to May (except December). Submissions must be made by the 5th of the month. Classified ad rates are $2 for members and $4 for non-members. For information please contact the Newsletter Editor, Robin Lynde.

Guild Membership is open to any person interested in advancing the Guild and its purposes. All levels of expertise in weaving or spinning are welcome to the Guild. Guests are welcome to attend meetings; a $3 donation is appreciated.

Yearly dues of $35 are payable in May for the following year. For members joining in February or later, dues are $17.50. For information on joining the Guild please contact the Membership Chair, Shiomi Wilson.

The Spinners' Group meets the first Tuesday of each month from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The meeting location varies from month to month. This is an informal group. Bring your lunch, spinning wheel, knitting, crochet or whatever handwork you are working on at the time; the hostess provides dessert and coffee. For more information please contact Lynne Greaves.

The next Spinners meeting is February 5, 2008.

The Weavers' Group meets the second Thursday of each month from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Please arrive at 9:30 for social time. Meetings are held in individual's homes.

This small weavers support group works on specific goals, assists with projects and analysis of weaving results. All weavers are welcome. For more information please contact Jane Swenson or Dotty Theodoratus.

The next meeting will be in February.

The Annual Show and Sale gives members the opportunity to demonstrate a variety of weaving and spinning techniques and display fibers, garments, tapestries, rugs, baskets, and more. A sales area gives everyone the opportunity to purchase exceptional woven items from our members.

This year's show, "Nature's Beauty All Around Us", will be held on February 9 and 10, 2008 at the Shepard Garden and Arts Center, 3330 McKinley Blvd, Sacramento, CA. The time for both days is 10 am to 4 pm.
