Pitching Horseshoes is an inexpensive sport and a great social event. Our plan is to construct 14 horseshoe pits and start a Junior League, giving the boys & girls something to do. We now have a club & Sanctioned League for others to participate in the game of horseshoe pitching.
With the help of club members and some local merchants and Pollock Pines Recreation Unlimited we now have 10 horseshoe pits completed. The club is open to Men, Women, Juniors, Seniors and Elders. The clubs' horseshoe pitching season is May through the month of August. The club meets on Thursday evenings every week, (weather permitting), signup starts at 5:30 p.m & is cut off at 6:15 p.m., play starts at 6:30 and ends about 7:30. Players will pitch three 30 shoe games with 90% handicap on their game point average. This type of play is very similar to a bowling league. The time it takes to pitch three games is about one hour. Because this is a singles type play, you don't have to participate every week and you don't have to worry about a partner. Members must pitch at least 6 weeks out of the 17 scheduled weeks to be elegible for the year-end Club & League Championship Tournaments. The Club has received Sanction from NORTHERN CALIF. HORSESHOE PITCHERS ASSN.(NCHPA) and the NATIONAL HORSESHOE PITCHERS ASSOCIATION. (NHPA)(Check this out:www.horseshoepitching.com) and we also host four state sanctioned tournaments each year. |
